Better, cheaper, faster, smaller – everything is happening at a breathtaking pace. For industrial Swedish flagships, in areas such as automation, telecom, Life Science, household products and vehicles, embedded electronic systems are absolutely indispensable. A trend in recent years is the so-called ”Onshoring”, i.e. large companies bringing their production back from low-wage countries. At the same time, we see that the EU is trying to build European competitiveness by investing in enabling technologies such as nano- and microelectronics, sensors, photonics and power electronics. But how can we ensure that these investments benefit Swedish research and industry? And who will supply Sweden with the electronic systems our industry needs?

”Smarter electronics systems for Sweden” is the name of a new research and innovation agenda that describes why Sweden must invest in smart electronics systems as a strategic innovation area for Swedish industry and society. In broad collaboration – industry representatives, research institutes and universities – over the past year
mapped out how the Swedish electronics industry is doing.
