{"id":617886,"date":"2020-12-11T10:52:13","date_gmt":"2020-12-11T09:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/svenskelektronik.se\/?p=617886"},"modified":"2020-12-11T10:52:13","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T09:52:13","slug":"uppskattad-digital-utbildning-kring-scip-databasen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/svenskelektronik.se\/en\/uppskattad-digital-utbildning-kring-scip-databasen\/","title":{"rendered":"Appreciated digital training around the SCIP database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The background to the training is the great need that now exists in the industries ahead of the upcoming guidelines that will apply from January 5, 2021: when suppliers of goods must submit information to the SCIP database at ECHA if the goods contain more than 0.1 percent of a substance on the EU&#039;s candidate list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>During the day we learned more about:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The basics of chemicals and waste legislation as well as how the EU&#039;s goal of a circular economy places new demands on knowledge about which substances are included in our products.<\/li>\n<li>Review of the requirements we must meet, as well as what type of data and knowledge we must have access to in order to report to the SCIP database.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, we were given examples of practical problems, strategies, agreements with subcontractors and purchasing requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The training was appreciated and we hope to follow up with more courses on the subject.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/svenskelektronik.se\/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fextranet%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>As a member, you can now log in.<\/strong><\/a> on our member-internal pages and take part in the presentation.<\/p>\n<p>If you are not a member, you can easily apply for membership. <a href=\"https:\/\/svenskelektronik.se\/medlemskap-2\/bli-medlem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>SCIP is a new database for consumers about hazardous chemicals in products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCIP<\/strong> \u2013 is the abbreviation for <strong>Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When goods become waste, the presence of hazardous substances can make the waste unsuitable for recycling. The EU has a goal of non-toxic material cycles. To promote such a development, the European Chemicals Agency, ECHA, has been tasked with creating the SCIP database where suppliers of goods must report the presence of particularly hazardous substances in goods. The information is thus available throughout the goods&#039; entire life cycle, including at the waste stage. The rule is new and is in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kemi.se\/lagar-och-regler\/ytterligare-eu-regler\/avfallsdirektivet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Waste Directive<\/a> 2008\/98\/EC. It enters into force on 5 January 2021.
