Semiconductor Sweden – Sveriges samlade röst i halvledarvärlden
Svensk Elektronik är värdorganisation för Semiconductor Sweden, det nationella initiativ som verkar för att pro-aktivt bygga en allians av aktörer från industri, akademi och forskning för att stärka Sveriges halvledarekosystem. Genom aktiv dialog med myndigheter och beslutsfattare bidrar Semiconductor Sweden till att definiera och samordna Sveriges strategiska roll i ett europeiskt och globalt sammanhang. Samtidigt verkar Semiconductor Sweden för att synliggöra svensk spetskompetens internationellt, öka vårt globala avtryck och etablera Sverige som en eftertraktad partner för samarbete, innovation och investeringar.
Varför Semiconductor Sweden?
Semiconductors are the foundation of all modern technology – they power everything from your smartphone to the electric vehicles of the future and renewable energy. As global demand surges and supply chains evolve, Europe is making strategic investments to ensure its technological sovereignty.
Även om Sverige ännu inte är en dominerande kraft på den globala halvledarkartan besitter vi forskning och utveckling i världsklass, har djupa kompetenskluster och en stark tradition av samarbete. Det som har saknats är en enad nationell röst. Genom Semiconductor Sweden, samlar vi nyckelaktörer från akademin, start-ups, industrin och forskningsinstitut för att bygga ett motståndskraftigt, innovativt och globalt kopplat halvledarekosystem.
Strategic goals:
- Collect and coordinate activities and resources within the entire Swedish semiconductor value chain
- Make Swedish innovations, key competencies and investments visible – both nationally and internationally
- Develop a national semiconductor strategy
- Strengthen international research and innovation cooperation, with a particular focus on European initiatives such as the EU Chips JU
- Building a dynamic and resilient ecosystem that promotes long-term competitiveness and innovation capacity

The initiative is run with a grant from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Development (Tillväxtverket).

Establishment of a competence center for semiconductor development
The establishment of competence centers according to Chips JU has begun for Europe and for Sweden.
Dessa center ska bedriva forskning och utbildning inom områden som är viktiga för hållar industri och digital samhällsomvandling och vara specialiserade inom olika nyckelområden. Centren kommer att spela en grundläggande roll för att stärka Europas innovations-ekosystem för halvledare genom att förse företag – särskilt små-, medelstora- och nystartade företag – med viktiga resurser för att utveckla halvledarlösningar, inklusive support, utbildning och tillgång till infrastrukturanläggningar etablerade enligt Chips Act, såsom pilotlinjer och designplattformar.
This targeted approach ensures long-term investment in local expertise, creating a sustained focus on innovation and growth.
For Sweden, Vinnova, together with universities and companies, is investing in eleven new competence centers (counted from January 2024).
The goal is for new knowledge and groundbreaking technology to be developed, disseminated and used to ultimately strengthen Sweden's competitiveness. The initiative will also contribute to attracting top talent for world-leading research and development in Sweden.
SCCC and Pilot lines EU Chips JU
Competence center for semiconductor development – Swedish Chip Competence Center (SCCC)
Semiconductor Sweden har ett nära samarbete med Swedish Chip Competence Center (SCCC), Sveriges centrala nod för halvledarkompetens. SCCC stödjer och sammanför startups samt små och medelstora företag med forskare och innovatörer inom spjutspetsteknik. Genom att erbjuda utbildning och stöd underlättar de tillgången till halvledarteknik och finansiering.
As an active part of the European Network of Competence Centres for Chips (ENCCC) within the Chips JU, SCCC bridges the gap between advanced research and market introduction. They offer concrete guidance and connect different actors to provide access to semiconductor technology, training, financing, pilot lines and advanced equipment. In this way, SCCC contributes to the success of both Swedish and European companies in the semiconductor industry.
SCCC exists to:
- Support startups and small and medium-sized enterprises with access to semiconductor technology and financing.
- Offer training in semiconductor design and production.
- Connecting Swedish companies with European research and funding opportunities.
- Helping companies gain access to pilot lines and state-of-the-art equipment.
- Promote Sweden's unique strengths in semiconductor technology, including power electronics, high-frequency technology and advanced materials.
Through SCCC (Swedish Chips Competence Centre), Swedish stakeholders have access to established pilot lines for semiconductor manufacturing within the EU Chips JU.
